Ranji Trophy 2023-24: Agni Chopra, the son of renowned Vidhu Vinod Chopra, caught the headlines as he kicked off his Ranji Trophy campaign in an emphatic way.
Agni smashed a century on his debut while representing Mizoram, but ended up on the losing side as Sikkim defeated them by four wickets.
Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is currently earning huge praise for the success of his latest film '12th fail', has been a huge cricket enthusiast and now his son aims to make his mark in the sport which is madly followed and loved in the country.

In the first innings, Chopra played a monumental innings of 166 in 179 deliveries on the back of 19 boundaries and seven maximums to drag Mizoram to 214.
He was the only batter to get a significant score while seven batters managed to get dismissed for ducks.
Despite his remarkable knock, his side was asked to follow on where he once again put up an impressive performance with the bat and scored 92 runs coming quickly as the rest of the batting unit managed to put on some runs to score 397 in the second innings.
For Sikkim, it was the pair of Sumit Singh and Ashish Thapa who played crucial roles in helping their team post a massive total of 442-9 before declaring their first innings.
Agni Chopra was born in Detroit, Michigan, and has had a good run of form with the bat, having scored two half-centuries in the List-A format for Mizoram earlier in December as well.
He also had a decent contribution where he scored 76 against Jammu and Kashmir in the T20 format.

With Agni's effort emerging as one of the huge positives, Mizoram will look to get back to winning ways, having just played the singular match in the Ranji Trophy so far.
