Who Is Nandini Sharma, WPL 2026 Updates: The match 4 of the ongoing Women's Premier League 2026 between the Delhi Capitals and the Gujarat Giants witnessed a historic moment as Nandini Sharma produced a moment of magic, taking an incredible hat-trick at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai on Sunday. However, her effort went in vain as Delhi suffered a 4-run defeat in the high-scoring contest.
This was the fourth hat-trick in the history of the WPL as Nandini joined Issy Wong, Deepti Sharma and Grace Harris in the elite list. Nandini came up with outstanding bowling figures as she took a five-wicket haul to help her team bowl the Gujarat Giants out for 209 in their 20 overs. She took three wickets from the final three balls in the 20th over of the first innings, removing Kanika Ahuja, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, and Renuka Singh.
The 24-year-old from Chandigarh became the second Indian to pick a hat-trick, and the first uncapped player to have a five-wicket haul in the tournament’s history, finishing with five scalps to her name for 33 runs in her four overs.

The 24-year-old is now the leading wicket-taker in the WPL 2026 with seven wickets to her name in the first two games. "I wanted to bowl stump-to-stump line, I tried to follow the advice by Jemimah and Shafali. I tried to bowl my stock balls initially, but they smashed a few boundaries against them in the power play. Hence, I went for the variations towards the closing stages, and that helped me. My family and friends are here to support me," Nandini said about her performance.
Who Is Nandini Sharma?
The young, talented women's cricketer Nandini Sharma was born in September 2001 and is known for her pace bowling and growing presence in domestic T20 cricket. Having represented Chandigarh in domestic cricket, Nandini developed a reputation as a promising young bowler.
She got the limelight on the back of her impactful performances in tournaments such as the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy (2025). Her ability to take crucial wickets and apply sustained pressure on a consistent basis impressed everyone. In 2026, Nandni earned her first Women’s Premier League opportunity after being signed by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 20 lakh at the auction.
Nandini impressed in the opening game as well against the Mumbai Indians, finishing with figures of 3-0-26-2, including the key wickets of Gunalan Kamalini and Nicola Carey.
