World Test Championship 2023-25: Bangladesh scripted history with their first-ever Test match win against Pakistan at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium on Sunday, August 25.
Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 10 wickets in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
The ICC World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle standings have seen major changes after Bangladesh's memorable win over Pakistan.
Bangladesh jumped to sixth place with two wins in five matches, surpassing Pakistan and South Africa in the standings. Their PCT currently is 40.00. They were placed eighth ahead of the Test series in Pakistan.
Pakistan, on the other hand, headed into the opening match being at the seventh position in the WTC standings. However, they now have slipped to the eighth after the defeat.
They have won just two matches and lost four out of six matches they have played so far. The Shan Masood-led side have 22 points under their belt and have a PCT of 30.56.
The hosts will be looking for an improved performance in the second Test to bounce back and level the series at home.
India and Australia have maintained their first and second positions respectively in WTC standings. Both teams are favourites to reach the final of the ongoing ICC tournament for the second successive edition.
New Zealand, England, and Sri Lanka are ranked third, fourth and fifth, respectively, in the ongoing tournament.
England recently defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the first Test at Manchester. With seven wins in 14 matches, they have 69 points under their belt and have a PCT of 41.07.
South Africa stand in the seventh position with two victories in six games. Their PCT currently is 38.89. West Indies are languishing at the bottom of the points table in the ongoing WTC 2023-25 cycle.
