Ahead of the AI Summit 2026, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive advisory announcing elaborate security and traffic arrangements across the national capital. The high-profile summit will be held from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam and is expected to be attended by heads of state, ministers, and senior representatives of international organisations from across the globe.
Given the scale and sensitivity of the event, extensive traffic diversions and restrictions have been put in place, particularly in and around the New Delhi district, where VVIP movement is anticipated. Several major roads have been designated as controlled zones, with entry of general vehicles either restricted or completely prohibited at specific times.

According to the advisory, traffic will be regulated on key stretches including Mathura Road (from Subhash Chandra Bose Marg T-point to Lodhi Road flyover), Janpath, Tughlaq Road, Akbar Road, Teen Murti Marg, Shanti Path, Ferozeshah Road, Sansad Marg, Kartavya Path, Lodhi Road, Sardar Patel Marg, Africa Avenue, APJ Abdul Kalam Road, C-Hexagon, Dr Zakir Hussain Marg, Sikandar Road, Kautilya Marg, Bhagwan Das Road, and Tilak Marg. Restrictions will vary depending on security requirements and VVIP movement schedules.
The advisory further states that trucks and other heavy vehicles without a specific destination in Delhi will not be allowed to enter the city during the summit period. Such vehicles will be diverted to the Eastern and Western Peripheral Expressways to ease congestion within the capital.
To minimise inconvenience, alternative routes have been planned for commuters travelling to the airport and major railway stations. The traffic police have urged residents to plan their journeys, leave early, and stay updated with real-time traffic information.
Metro services will operate normally throughout the summit, with trains running as per schedule at all stations. Officials have encouraged commuters, especially air travellers, to prefer metro services as they are considered the fastest and most reliable mode of transport during the event. Bus services may be diverted temporarily during VVIP movements.
Keeping in mind the ongoing board examinations, special nodal officers have been deployed at 10 schools located along VVIP routes. These officers will coordinate with school authorities to ensure smooth and timely movement of students and staff to examination centres through designated alternative routes.
The Delhi Traffic Police has appealed to citizens to park vehicles only in authorised parking areas, avoid roadside parking, and make maximum use of public transport. People have also been advised to report any suspicious objects or individuals immediately. Authorities have assured that ambulances, medical emergencies, and essential services will be facilitated without disruption under all circumstances.
