Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has asserted that devotees will not see any foam on the surface of the Yamuna River during this year's Chhath festival, stating that the government is taking all necessary steps to ensure a clean river. Preparations are underway to provide all required facilities at the ghats for the celebrations.
"Delhi residents will see a grand Chhath festival after Diwali this year," Gupta said. "Under the supervision of the Water Minister, the Delhi Jal Board is taking necessary steps. This effort will ensure that no foam is visible in the Yamuna."
The BJP government has planned a grand celebration for Chhath Puja on both banks of the Yamuna and at various other locations across the city. As part of these efforts, work to rejuvenate the Yamuna is progressing rapidly. Tenders have been issued for the upgradation of existing Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) and the construction of new ones.
Additionally, a drone survey of the drains flowing into the river has been completed. Based on the findings, a comprehensive plan is being developed to stop polluted water from these drains from entering the Yamuna.
