A Crime Branch team has apprehended a notorious criminal identified as Monu (alias Murga or Bhatda), a resident of Raghubir Nagar. He had been declared a Proclaimed Offender (PO) by the court in connection with an attempted murder case registered at the Rajouri Garden police station.

The Operation

To apprehend the accused, a dedicated team was formed under the supervision of ACP Girish Kaushik and the leadership of Inspector Sandeep Tushir.

Intelligence Gathering: The team gathered local intelligence regarding the accused's potential hideouts. It was discovered that Monu had changed his address and was hiding in Vishnu Garden, Delhi, to evade arrest.

The Raid: Acting on specific information received from Head Constable Sohit Dahiya, the team conducted a raid near Guru Nanak Electricals in Vishnu Garden and successfully apprehended him.

Case Background (Rajouri Garden Case)

2021 Arrest: Monu was arrested in 2021 regarding an attempted murder case at Rajouri Garden police station.

Bail And PO Status: Approximately two months after his arrest, he was granted bail. Although the charge sheet was filed, Monu failed to appear for the trial. Consequently, the court declared him a Proclaimed Offender in February of this year.

Criminal History

During questioning, it was revealed that the accused has been involved in four separate criminal cases, including attempted murder, rape, and violations of the POCSO Act. His criminal record is as follows:

2015 (Case 1): A case of assault and rape of a woman was registered against him for the first time.

2015 (Case 2): In the same year, he sexually assaulted a minor girl. A case was registered under the POCSO Act and for rape; he was arrested.

2018 (Case 3): Monu and his associates stabbed a person. A case of attempted murder was registered, and he was arrested (later bailed).

Background

The accused earned the alias 'Murga' because he used to sell chickens for a living.
