The South Delhi Special Team has achieved a significant breakthrough in the high-profile murder case of dairy operator Ratan Lohia. Investigators have identified several of the accused, revealing a meticulously planned conspiracy involving professional hitmen and a deep-seated vendetta.
The Plot And Execution
According to police sources, the attack was carried out by six individuals who traveled in two separate cars.
The Assailants: The three main shooters are identified as professional sharpshooters from Uttar Pradesh. Three other accomplices provided backup in a second vehicle; one of them is a known history-sheeter from the Tigaon police station area in Faridabad.
The Timeline: The assailants departed from Tigaon, Faridabad, around 4:00 am on the morning of the incident.
The Modus Operandi: Upon reaching Aya Nagar, the three shooters exited their vehicle and waited at the crime scene. The backup team, parked at a distance, identified Ratan Lohia upon his arrival, signaling the shooters to open fire at 6:25 am.
The Revenge Angle: A Vow Taken At A Funeral Pyre
The investigation has uncovered a chilling motive linked to the murder of Arun Lohia, a resident of Aya Nagar, who was killed in a rivalry incident six months ago outside Chhatarpur Metro Station.
The Vow: During Arun’s funeral, a member of his maternal family reportedly stood before the pyre and vowed to exact revenge by firing "four times the number of bullets" used to kill Arun. Arun had been shot approximately 20 times.
The Brutality: Fulfilling this grim vow, Ratan Lohia was shot between 70 to 80 times on Sunday morning. This specific detail—the excessive number of bullets—provided the police with their first major lead connecting the two cases.
Suspects: Police have learned that the group of culprits includes one or two relatives from Arun’s maternal family.
Investigation And Raids
The Special Cell team is actively tracking the suspects and their vehicles.
Car Recovered: Approximately three hours after the murder, one of the two cars used in the crime was found abandoned in Lehdola village, under the jurisdiction of the Chandpur police post in Faridabad.
Suspects Flee: When the Special Cell raided the homes of the suspected accused in Tigaon village on Wednesday at 11:30 am, they found the houses locked. Neighbors reported that the family members had left in vehicles around 11:30 pm on November 30—eight hours before the murder took place—and have not returned.
Ongoing Search: A search operation is underway for the second car and the absconding accused.
While the South District Police has not yet released an official statement, the recovery of the vehicle and the identification of the shooters mark a major step forward in the investigation.
