Good news has arrived for the residents of rural Delhi, as the Rural Development Board has approved a Rs 702 crore budget for development works in 147 villages. The development, which has reportedly been stalled for a long time, is now set to be expedited.

In a meeting at the Secretariat chaired by Delhi Rural Development Board Chairman Rajkumar Chauhan, the budget was approved for 377 distinct development projects.

Departmental approval and other formalities are expected to take one to one and a half months, with development work slated to begin in the January 2026 .

Rajkumar Chauhan, Chairman of the Delhi Rural Development Board, stated, "A budget of Rs 702 crore has been sanctioned for the development of the villages. Their development had been stalled for a long time. Now, it will be expedited. After all formalities are completed, the development work will begin in January next year."

Chauhan also noted that prior to this, in September, the Rural Development Board had approved a separate budget of Rs 1089 crore.

Project And Budget Breakdown

A large portion of the newly approved amount, approximately Rs 500 crore, will be spent on the construction and repair of roads and streets.

Projects to be funded include:

  • 30 drains
  • 29 community halls (Chaupals)
  • 17 parks and gymnasiums
  • Marriage halls
  • Panchayat buildings
  • Cremation grounds
  • Boundary walls
  • Street and solar lights
  • Entrance gates
  • Libraries
  • Construction and repair of wells

The Rs 702 crore budget is allocated as follows:

Rs 494.7 crore: Road construction, street construction, community halls, community centres, marriage halls, and Panchayat buildings

Rs 58.17 crore: Drain construction

Rs 44.92 crore: Canal construction

Rs 15.82 crore: Open gyms and ponds

Rs 8.22 crore: Cremation grounds

Rs 3.82 crore: Boundary walls and culverts

Rs 3.46 crore: Benches

Rs 2.71 crore: Street lights and solar lights

Rs 2.04 crore: Entrance gates

Rs 72 lakh: Libraries

Rs 11 lakh: Construction and repair of wells

Key Village Allocations

The budget for Dhansa village in the Najafgarh assembly constituency has the highest number of projects, with 53, for which Rs 53.26 crore has been allocated.

Other significant allocations include:

Deoli: Rs 25.39 crore (3 projects)

Rithala: Rs 15.70 crore (5 projects)

Bakoli (Narela): Rs 15.20 crore (3 projects)

Tughlakabad: Rs 14.98 crore (5 projects)

Pooth Khurd (Bawana): Rs 14.85 crore (14 projects)

Alipur (Narela): Rs 14.36 crore (4 projects)

Ghogha (Narela): Rs 13.66 crore (4 projects)

Kotla Mubarakpur (Kasturba Nagar): Rs 13.05 crore (1 project)

Narela: Rs 11.53 crore (5 projects)

Kair (Najafgarh): Rs 11.38 crore (12 projects)

Bajitpur (Bawana): Rs 11.28 crore (2 projects)

Jatikra (Matiala): Rs 10.89 crore (1 project)

Naharpur (Rohini): Rs 10.24 crore (1 project)

Old Seelampur (Gandhi Nagar): Rs 10 crore
