A team from the Lahori Gate police station arrested an employee within 24 hours for staging a fake robbery to steal Rs 23,37,000 in cash from his employer. The accused has been identified as Akash from Loni, Ghaziabad. Based on his disclosure, the entire stolen amount has been recovered.

According to Deputy Commissioner Raja Banthia, on September 18, watch trader Sanjay Agarwal, operating in Lajpat Rai Market, reported that Akash had been instructed to collect Rs 23,37,000 from his office in Fatehpur, Katra Bariyan and deliver it to another person. Hours later, Akash had not delivered the cash and switched off his mobile phone, prompting the police to register a case.

The following day, Akash called the police, claiming he had been made to inhale a substance that rendered him unconscious. He said he regained consciousness near Old Delhi Railway Station, where his bag of cash and mobile phone were missing.

Suspecting foul play, police reviewed approximately 500 CCTV recordings along his route. Footage revealed he was still in possession of the cash bag while walking through Church Mission Chowk towards the railway station. Akash then fabricated a story that he had taken an auto to the Red Fort and handed the bag to a colleague.
