New Delhi Railway Station Platform Change: 14 Trains Shifted To Manage Festive Rush; Check Full Details

The New Delhi Railway Station (NDLS) is facing a significant challenge in managing the massive surge in passenger traffic due to the ongoing festive season. To handle the situation and reduce congestion, railway authorities are implementing several key measures, including the creation of a new holding area and changing the platforms for 14 trains.

A dedicated holding area is being established near the Ajmeri Gate side of the station. This is designed to regulate the flow of passengers and prevent overcrowding on the platforms themselves.

According to railway officials, numerous special trains are being operated to accommodate the high demand. To streamline departures, most of these special trains heading towards eastern India will operate from Platform number 16, though other platforms will be used as needed.

Officials are actively reviewing train schedules to ensure that no single platform becomes overburdened with too many arrivals and departures in a short span, which would increase crowding on both platforms and foot overbridges.

In light of these considerations, a decision has been made to temporarily change the platforms for 14 trains, including Shatabdi and local services. These changes will remain in effect until October 30.
