World’s Largest River Island: Majuli, which is situated in the northeastern Indian state of Assam, is the world’s largest river island. Exactly, the island is in the Brahmaputra River near the Jorhat district of Assam. Majuli covers a total area of around 352 square kilometres, which is 136 square miles, according to the official portal of the State of Assam. Tourists from every corner of the world come to Majuli to witness its picturesque natural beauty. You might not know, but the largest river island is also regarded as the cultural capital of Assam since the 16th century.
It is also known for its Vaishnavite Hinduism culture, especially through traditional monasteries called satras, which are known fpr centuries-old music, dance, and ritual arts. Majuli is a famous spot for birdwatchers and nature lovers. Alongside, handwoven gamusas (a traditional cloth) and pottery are also famous here. The place is also famous for vibrant festivals like Raas Leela, devoted to lord Krishna. The festival happens every year in the month of November.

Despite the beauty and significance, the largest river island is slowly losing itself through erosion caused by the Brahmaputra River.
