Chandigarh School Holiday: The government of Chandigarh has ordered all the private and government schools to remain closed till September 7, 2025 amid heavy rains. Earlier the authorities announced the closures of schools till September 2, 2025 and now it is extended to September 7, 2025 because of bad weather. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure for the safety of students and teachers due to continuous rainfall in the state.
The common capital of Punjab and Haryana, has received more than 140 mm of rainfall since August 31, 2025 (Sunday). ‘In view of the prevailing inclement weather conditions in the region, all the schools of UT (union territory) Chandigarh will remain closed on September 3,’ the statement said. Now, the authorities have ordered the closure of schools till September 7, 2025.
The swollen Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers and seasonal rivulets have flooded large parts of Punjab following severe rain. All educational institutes in the state are closed till Wednesday due to heavy rainfall in the catchment areas of Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.Heavy rains in Punjab have worsened the flood situation in the state.
The authorities have advised citizens to stay alert and must follow all the safety advisories released by the government. The reopening of the schools and educational institutes will be based on the weather conditions. All the government, aided, recognised, and private schools will remain closed till September 7, 2025 due to heavy rainfall.
The parents must stay in touch with the school authorities to stay updated for the school reopening dates.
