Delhi School Holidays: The Directorate of Education has taken stern measures related to the number of teaching days across Delhi schools. The new guidelines have ordered all government, aided, and private schools to submit written assurances to conduct classes as per the established standards throughout the year.
The school principals have to send an affidavit to show their agreement with this measure. The Director has sent the prescribed format and size in which the affidavit has to be uploaded.
What Was The Trends Earlier?
Officers say that over the past years, it has been observed that many schools have reduced the number of teaching days due to various reasons like holidays, events, and other activities. This has resulted in not completion of the syllabus on time, thereby impacting students’ studies. Now, with this new rule, the school management can be held accountable for disrupting the continuity of the syllabus.
What Is This New Measure?
According to this new measure, the Directorate clarified that schools need to first finalize their holiday calendar and working days in advance for the academic year. The Education Department further added that the purpose of this is to eliminate any confusion or arbitrary decisions later.
The 2026-27 academic session will begin on April 1, 2026. Summer, fall, and winter vacations have been scheduled in advance so that schools can plan their academics accordingly.
Education officials clarified that stringent actions will be taken against those schools that fail to comply with this order. With this new order, parents are also hoping that frequent interruptions in studies due to school holidays will be managed efficiently.
