Ghaziabad School Holiday On July 9: Ghaziabad schools up to Class 12 have been closed on Thursday, July 9, following continuous heavy rainfall across the district. The District Magistrate (DM) issued the holiday order as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students after persistent rain disrupted normal life in several areas of the city.
The decision came shortly after many school buses had already begun their morning routes. Schools immediately informed parents and students about the closure, urging children to stay indoors, remain safe and use the unexpected holiday to complete pending academic work. Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall alert for all districts of Uttar Pradesh, warning of thunderstorms and lightning in several regions.
Why Were Ghaziabad Schools Closed Today?
The District Magistrate announced the closure after continuous rainfall caused waterlogging, traffic congestion, and concerns over students' safety while travelling to and from school. Since many school buses had already left for their morning pickups before the order was issued, schools quickly contacted parents through official communication channels to inform them about the holiday. Authorities said the precautionary decision was taken to avoid any untoward incidents amid the ongoing spell of heavy rain.
IMD Issues Heavy Rain Alert Across Uttar Pradesh
The India Meteorological Department has forecast widespread rainfall across Uttar Pradesh along with thunderstorms and lightning in many districts. According to the weather department, rainfall was recorded in 71 districts during the previous 24 hours, highlighting the intensity of the active monsoon system.
Heavy rainfall has been predicted for Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Shamli, Bijnor, Amroha, Sambhal, Moradabad, Rampur, Pilibhit, Bareilly, Badaun, Shahjahanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Unnao, Barabanki, Kanpur Nagar, Kanpur Dehat, Hamirpur and Jalaun. The IMD has advised residents to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged areas and follow official weather updates until conditions improve.
Mathura And Hathras Also Announce School Holiday
The impact of the monsoon has extended beyond Ghaziabad. Authorities in Mathura and Hathras have also ordered the closure of schools up to Class 8 on July 9 because of adverse weather conditions. District administrations said the measure has been taken to safeguard students as heavy rain continues across the region.
Students have been advised to remain indoors unless necessary, while parents have been asked to stay updated through official notifications from schools and district authorities. Officials are continuously monitoring the weather situation and will take further decisions depending on rainfall intensity and local conditions.
