UK Universities to open campus in India: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced that a total 9 UK Universities will open their campuses in India. PM Modi has made this statement after his meeting with the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer who is on his visit to India. 

In a historic move to strengthen educational ties, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that nine leading British universities will open campuses in India for students. Earlier, the Gurugram campus of Southampton University has already been inaugurated and the first students have already enrolled in the University.

The University of Bristol announced that the University has been granted approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC) to open a new campus in Mumbai in July 2025. The new campus will open for students in summer 2026.

PM Narendra Modi expressed his happiness about this educational collaboration as 9 British Universities will soon open their campuses in India.

This educational initiative marks as a crucial step in India-UK educational collaboration and aligns with India’s National Education Policy 2020. This initiative aims to provide Indian students access to world-class education and quality education without leaving India.

A new era of Education by 2035:

In July 2025, during PM Narendra Modi's UK visit, the India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap opened new avenues and opportunities for cooperation in providing quality education to students. The establishment of UK university campuses in India is likely to give:

1.Indian students will provide access to a global-standard educational system.

2. It will promote a collaborative research atmosphere between Indian and UK Universities.

3. It will strengthen academia-industry linkages.

List Of UK Universities Campuses to Open In India:

1. University of Southampton is all set to open its campus in Gurugram.

2. ⁠Liverpool is all set to open its campus in Bangalore.

3. ⁠York is all set to open its campus in Mumbai.

4. ⁠University of Aberdeen is all set to open its campus in Mumbai.

5. ⁠University of Bristol is all set to open its campus in Mumbai.
