Educational Qualifications of BRICS Summit 2026 Leaders: The 18th BRICS Summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12–13, 2026, under India's presidency, marking the completion of 20 years since the group's inception. Hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the summit's theme for this year is "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation, and Sustainability."
On this occasion, we bring you the educational backgrounds of the top heads of state and government attending the summit, reflecting a wide range of academic and professional journeys from across the world.

Educational Backgrounds Of BRICS Summit 2026 Leaders
PM Narendra Modi (India): Completed higher secondary education in Vadnagar, Gujarat, in 1967; earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Delhi (School of Open Learning) in 1978, and an MA in Political Science from Gujarat University as an external student in 1983.
President Xi Jinping (China): Holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and a Doctorate in Law.
President Masoud Pezeshkian (Iran): Has a medical education with specialisation in Medicine and Surgery, with expertise in cardiac surgery.
President Prabowo Subianto (Indonesia): Received early education in Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Switzerland, and England due to family exile, and graduated from the Indonesian Military Academy.
President "Bongbong" Marcos (Philippines): Studied at Oxford but did not complete all required examinations, receiving a Special Diploma in Social Studies instead of a bachelor's degree; also pursued an MBA in the US, which he did not complete.
PM Abiy Ahmed (Ethiopia): Holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, a Master's in Leadership, an MBA, and a Doctorate.
President Vladimir Putin (Russia): President Vladimir Putin holds dual qualifications in law and economics. He earned his initial Bachelor’s degree in Law from Leningrad State University and later advanced his academic credentials by achieving a Doctorate in Economics.
President Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa): He completed his studies and graduated with a degree in law, qualifying him as an attorney.
President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi (Egypt): Graduate of the Egyptian Military Academy, with a Master's degree in Military Science from Egypt and the UK, along with fellowships in Egypt and the United States.
PM Anwar Ibrahim (Malaysia): Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim focused his university studies on the humanities and literature. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Malay Studies and furthered his education by obtaining a Master’s degree in Literature
PM Pham Minh Chinh (Vietnam): Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính holds academic qualifications in both linguistic studies and public policy. His educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in French and a Master’s degree in Public Policy.
