Kerala School Holiday: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intermittent rainfall and occasional showers for August 8, 2026. Meanwhile, IMD has placed Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod under red alert due to continued rainfall. However, the district administration has not announced any school closures for August 8, 2026. Monitoring the weather conditions and IMD alerts closely, the local administration may announce a school holiday tomorrow if required. During these times, students and parents are advised not to panic and refrain from any rumours. Only rely on the official updates by the concerned authorities and respective schools for any school closure updates.
Red And Orange Alerts In Several Districts
As per IMD’s latest update, four districts in Kerala have been under red alerts for August 7. These include Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod, indicating extremely heavy rainfall. IMD’s forecast for orange alert is for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, and Idukki, signalling very heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours.
Will Schools Be Closed Tomorrow?
The IMD’s red, orange, and yellow alerts do not necessarily mean that schools will be closed tomorrow. The local administration will monitor the weather conditions closely in the prone areas and accordingly decide about school closures. Until then, all educational institutions will run as per their allocated timetable on August 8, 2026. Any further updates will be announced through official portals.
Parents And Students Must Remain Vigilant
Authorities have advised residents, especially those living in low-lying and landslide-prone areas, to follow the safety measures laid down by the disaster management officials. Students and parents must follow the official district administration announcements for school closures. The possibility of landslides due to continuous rainfall may lead the district administration to declare a school holiday later in the day.
