NEET-UG Row 2024: The National Eligibility and Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) 2024 counselling has been postponed till further notice amid paper leak row. The NEET UG all-India quota (AIQ) seat counselling was scheduled to start tooday (July 6). The decision came despite the Supreme Court's refusal to postpone the NEET-UG counselling which was scheduled to begin today. The top court led by CJI DY Chandrachud along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra is set to hear various petitions in connection with the NEET-UG ‘irregularities’ on July 8.
These petitions involve allegations of paper leak, calls for a detailed probe into the National Testing Agency's (NTA) operations, and requests for the cancellation of the entire exam with a demand for its re-conduction. The NEET-UG Counselling includes several rounds including stray vacancy rounds and mop-up rounds.
After passing the medical entrance exam, students must first register, pay the fees associated with NEET UG counselling, fill in the choices and lock them, upload documents and report to the allotted institute physically.
Earlier on Friday, the apex court had said that the NEET-UG 2024 exam counselling is not an "open and shut" process and declined to postpone it. The top court had also issued notices to he National Testing Agency (NTA), the Centre, and others on a petition seeking cancellation of the exam over alleged irregularities in holding it on May 5.

The NTA has released the retest results for 813 candidates, resulting in a revised topper tally of 61, down from 67. As many as six applicants who had previously received perfect scores due to grace marks were unable to receive it on the retest, although they were still able to receive high points exceeding 680.
The NEET-UG 2024 exam, which was conducted by NTA on May 5 across 4,750 centres for nearly 24 lakh students, faced the ire over allegations of paper leaks and questionable grace marks. The results were questioned as an unprecedented 67 students have attained a perfect score of 720.
