Medical candidates who took the NEET PG 2026 exam have raised concerns about purported score disparities and requested more information about the review process. Candidates have urged authorities to make the official answer key, question papers, and individual response sheets available.
By comparing their recorded responses with the right answers, the materials are supposed to assist applicants in independently determining their likely scores.
According to the information provided by the candidates, the scorecards, question paper, answer key, and response sheets would be made available starting on October 1 or later.
What Discrepancies Have NEET PG Aspirants Alleged?
Students who appeared for the NEET PG 2026 examination conducted on August 30 and September 5 have alleged differences between their expected and reported scores. Some aspirants have claimed a difference of around 20 questions, equivalent to 80-100 marks, which they believe could significantly affect their ranks.
However, these are allegations raised by candidates and medical student bodies and have not been established as an official finding. Aspirants have therefore sought access to their individual recorded responses, the official answer key and the complete question paper to independently verify their scores.
Candidates have also pointed out that merely releasing an answer key may not be sufficient for proper verification. They have sought a comprehensive and readable master question paper booklet so that responses can be matched accurately with the corresponding questions and answers.
Medical Bodies Write To Health Minister
According to the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), a number of NEET PG candidates have contacted the organization with concerns about the evaluation procedure and their results.
In a letter to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, AIMSA requested that the official NEET PG 2026 question paper, answer key, and recorded replies of those who took the test be released immediately.
How Can Candidates Calculate Expected NEET PG Marks?
Once the official answer key and individual response sheets are available, candidates can calculate their expected scores by comparing their recorded responses with the correct answers and applying the prescribed marking scheme.
Under the NEET PG marking scheme, candidates receive four marks for every correct answer, while one mark is deducted for every incorrect answer. No marks are awarded or deducted for questions that remain unattempted.
For example, if a candidate has 140 correct responses, 20 incorrect responses and 20 unattempted questions, the expected score would be calculated as:
(140 × 4) − (20 × 1) = 540 marks
Candidates can use this calculation to compare their expected score with the score displayed on their result and identify any difference. If they find a discrepancy, they can follow the instructions issued by the competent authority regarding representations or grievances.
