NIRF Rankings 2025: All Major Changes Introduced This Year

This year, NIRF introduces two major changes to its evaluation system. For the first time, a negative grading system has been implemented to account for retracted research papers. this change aims to combat unethical research practices, such as plagiarism and data fabrication, by penalising institutions for papers that are later retracted.

Additionally, For the first time, a new category aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been added, emphasizing an institution's social and environmental responsibility and reflecting global benchmarks in higher education.
