Railway Promotion Rules: The Railway Board on Thursday announced that all departmental promotion examinations will be conducted through centralised computer based test (conducted by RRB). The decision was taken in a high-level meeting of the Railway Board in which the focus was to make it more transparent and accessible. The board stated that a yearly calendar will be prepared for all the zonal railway exams, and the promotional exams will be conducted based on the calendar.
While providing details, the officials stated that the candidates are shown their question papers, answer sheets, and correct answer keys in the Computer-Based Test (CBT). The candidates are also given an opportunity to raise objections regarding the correctness of the questions and answer keys. The board also clearly defined all the important data of eligibility, like caste, certificate number, mobile number, identification marks, photograph & signature, date of birth, and qualification.

The board also clarified that the RRB has conducted exams with complete transparency, and no complaint has been registered so far. While providing details, the board stated that from 2015 more than 7 crore candidates have given the exam, adding that the exam has been conducted through computer-based tests without any paper leak, impersonation, remote log-in, or use of spying devices.
The board also stated that RRB selected the agency fulfilling various parameters through open tender for conducting the examination. It further stated that the railway team does the audit of the examination center as per the rules. It also stated that the exams are conducted under 100 per cent CCTV coverage, and recording is done two hours before the examination and one hour after the examination.

The board also stated that the information about the city of examination is disclosed approximately 10 days before the actual date of the exam. However, the center of the examination is made available only four days before the exam. Apart from this, the exam center is allotted through computerised means and is intended to avoid manual intervention.
