Telangana School Holiday: The Telangana government has announced that Saturday, September 6 will be a general holiday in view of the Ganesh idol immersion procession. The order will apply to all government offices, schools and colleges in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts.

The decision has been taken to ensure smooth conduct of the annual Ganesh Visarjan, which sees massive public participation every year. Extensive traffic management and security arrangements are made during the procession in both the cities, and the holiday has been declared to minimise inconvenience to commuters and institutions.

Govt Makes Second Saturday a Working Day:

To strike a balance between working days, the government has also notified that October 11, which falls on the second Saturday, will now be observed as a working day. This will apply to all government institutions and educational establishments in the affected districts.

Ganesh Visarjan marks the culmination of Ganesh Chaturthi festivities and during this time thousands of idols are taken for immersion in processions in Hyderabad and adjoining districts.
