Assembly Election 2024 Dates Live Updates:  The Election Commission on Friday announced the schedule of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana Assembly elections 2024 today. According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will vote in three phases starting September 18. The second phase will be held on September 25, while the polling for the third phase will be held on October 1. The results for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election 2024 will declared on October 4. Meanwhile, as per the schedule for Haryana, the polling across 90 Assembly segments in the agri-state will be held in a single phase on October 1. The results will be declared on October 4, along with the results for the Jammu Kashmir Assembly Election 2024.

On August 14, the Election Commission met with Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla to assess the security conditions in Jammu and Kashmir. In December of last year, the Supreme Court instructed the central government to complete the election process in the Union Territory by September 30, 2024. Jammu and Kashmir will see the elections after a decade, as the last assembly elections took place in 2014. The PDP-BJP coalition government collapsed in June 2018 after the BJP withdrew its support from then-Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti.

The current government's term in Haryana will conclude on November 3, 2024. Following the 2019 elections, the BJP secured 40 seats in the 90-member assembly and formed a coalition government with the JJP.
