Lok Sabha Election 2024 Phase 4: Highlights

Nearly 62.31 per cent voter turnout was recorded as of 5 pm across the 96 constituencies in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Monday, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI). Among all the states that went to poll, West Bengal recorded the highest voter turnout at 5 PM. Bengal's voter turnout stood at 75.66 per cent, according a data till 5 PM.

The voter turnout was recorded at approximately 52.6 per cent till 3 pm across 10 States/Union Territories in the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Monday, according to the Election Commission of India (ECI).

Amid ongoing polling for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024, Hindupur TDP MLA candidate and film star Balakrishna, along with his wife Vasundhara cast their votes at a polling station in Hindupur.

Amid ongoing polling for Lok Sabha Election 2024, a booth capturing attempt has been foiled in Bihar’s Darbhanga. According to Dainik Jagran, RJD workers attempted booth capturing at booth number 200 and 201 of Brahmapur-Bhatpura Middle School of Manigachi block of Darbhanga Rural Assembly.

Amid ongoing voting for the fourth phase of Lok Sabha Election 2024, Samajwadi Party took to X and alleged that the CRPF personnel had beaten up the Muslim voters at booth number 429 in Kannauj assembly constituency of Kannauj Lok Sabha constituency. They entered the house and lathi-charged them.

As the polling for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha Election 2024 is ongoing, a BJP candidate from Beed parliamentary constituency Pankaja Munde cast her vote at a polling station in Beed.

According to the Election Commission of India, West Bengal has recorded the highest voter turnout of  32.78 per cent till 11 am. A total of 24.87 per cent voter turnout was recorded till 11 am, in the fourth phase of elections. Here's a look at the state-wise voter turnout:

Amid ongoing polling for Phase 4 Lok Sabha Election 2024, the Hyderabad constituency is set to witness a triangular contest among AIMIM, BJP and the Congress. BJP candidate Madhavi Latha is contesting against sitting MP Asaduddin Owaisi from this seat. The Congress gave the ticket to Mohammed Waliullah Sameer from the seat.

Hyderabad Lok Sabha constituency is considered the stronghold of AIMIM, where the Owaisi family has been in control since 1984. Reportedly, Owaisi's father Sultan Salahuddin won the Lok Sabha elections from this seat for the first time in 1984.

Amid ongoing voting for Phase 4 Lok Sabha Election 2024, the Odisha unit of the BJP has accused the ruling BJD of producing ‘deepfake’ video of Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who was allegedly isolated by his close-aide.

AIMIM candidate from Aurangabad, Imtiaz Jaleel cast his vote at a polling booth in his constituency. Shiv Sena (UBT) has fielded Chandrakant Khaire while Shiv Sena has fielded Sandipan Bhumare from Aurangabad.

Amid ongoing voting for Phase 4 Lok Sabha Election 2024, BJP leader Prakash Javadekar exuded confidence that the BJP will cross the 400-seat mark. Andhra Pradesh Congress President and candidate from Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency, YS Sharmila cast her vote at a polling booth in the constituency.   She is contesting against TDP's Chadipiralla Bhupesh Subbarami Reddy and sitting MP YSRCP's YS Avinash Reddy.

The Telangana Congress leader G Niranjan has filed a complaint against the BJP state president and candidate from Secunderabad Parliamentary constituency, G Kishan Reddy for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Amid ongoing polling for the Phase 4 Lok Sabha Election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the Trinamool Congress workers of ransacking homes of polling agents in West Bengal. AIMIM candidate Asaduddin Owaisi who is contesting against BJP’s Madhavi Latha said, "Every election cannot be the same as it was 5 years ago. The challenges are different, issues are different. This is a very important, historic parliamentary election in our country...People have a different understanding and what they want for the country...Elections should always be taken seriously whether it is a Parliament election or a Panchayat election. We should always take our opponent seriously.”,
