Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights

As Lok Sabha elections are over, AAP and Congress have severed ties with the Aam Aadmi Party deciding to go solo in the upcoming 2025 assembly election.

The announcement regarding the same was made today after a meeting of MLAs at the CM residence under the leadership of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife Sunita Kejriwal. After the meeting, it was said that AAP will fight the upcoming assembly elections in 2025 alone.

Mandi MP and actor-turned-politician Kangana Ranaut was allegedly slapped by a CISF official at Chandigarh airport on Thursday. According to Jagran.com, the official was hurt by Kangana's statement during the farmer's movement, and that’s why the Bollywood leader was slapped.

Maldives President Muizzu has received an invitation to the oath-taking ceremony of PM Modi. This comes amid the souring India-Maldives ties. Notably, the bilateral-ties of both the countries suffered a rift after Maldivian ministers took a swipe at PM Modi over his Lakshadweep picture.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to take oath for third successive term in office on June 9. BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) won a successive third term in office in the results of Lok Sabha elections declared on June 4. A report by ANI stated that PM Modi's swearing-in ceremony may take place at 6 pm on June 9.

UP state minister Jaiveer Singh spoke about the election results and reduction in seats for BJP in UP and said, "In Uttar Pradesh, we did not get the desired results. INDI alliance misled the people of the state using false campaigns and narratives. They used our slogan '400 paar' and said that BJP wants 4  seats to change the Constitution and finish reservations...We will take a lesson from this election and move forward.",

"Opposition can make a failed attempt to fulfil their ambitions. For them, policy and ideology do not matter. They don't shy away from insulting the mandate when it comes to fulfilling their ambitions. The mandate is completely for the NDA...This mandate is to make my PM, a third-time PM. So, no ally will insult this mandate. We are strongly with the Prime Minister. A government will be formed soon and it will go on strongly for 5 years," says Chirag Paswan when asked if he was approached by the INDIA bloc. 

On her victory in Lok Sabha polls, NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule says, " I want to thank all those who supported me. This victory is of the voters and my party workers. It was a difficult year for us. This election was contested over farmers' issues, water crises, unemployment and corruption....The voters have rejected income tax, CBI, ED...From tomorrow, we will begin visiting drought-affected areas in the state..." says NCP-SCP leader Supriya Sule on her victory in Lok Sabha polls.

The BJP asks all MPs and CMs to reach Delhi by tonight. NDA MPs to have a meeting tomorrow morning at Parliament Central Hall, ANI reported citing sources. Narendra Modi is all set to take as prime minister of India for the third term on Saturday, June 8. BJP will form a government in the Centre with the support of NDA allies. NAD won 293 on Tuesday while the INDIA alliance crossed the 230 mark. 

West Bengal LoP and BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari writes to the state Governor, mentions incidents of post-poll violence in the state and alleges TMC's role in it. Adhikari requests the Governor to visit the affected areas in the state. 

"I think the Agniveer system should be scrapped immediately. Government should admit that it made a mistake, that it should not have introduced Agniveer system..." Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav says.

Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini takes oath as BJP MLA from Karnal today. Lok Sabha Election 2024 results were declared on June 4, with the BJP winning 240 seats.,

Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal will attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi, scheduled to take place on June 8, news agency ANI reports citing sources. "Invitation was extended to Nepali PM by Indian PM during Wednesday’s phone conversation," a Nepali official confirmed.

NCP meeting to be held at 11 AM at the residence of Maharashtra Deputy CM and party chief Ajit Pawar, in Mumbai. All the ministers from the party attended the meeting. 

"Don't you think Shiv Sena (UBT) has played a role in the increase of Congress' votes? Would this have happened if Shiv Sena (UBT) and Uddhav Thackeray hadn't gone across Maharashtra?... Maha Vikas Aghadi will work strongly and we don't have any ego in our mind" Raut says.

Narendra Modi received a congratulatory telephone call from his Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina for his electoral victory, where the two leaders vowed to continue working together to achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and Smart Bangladesh 2041.
