Lok Sabha Election 2024 Result LIVE: NDA Will Form Govt For Third Time, Says PM Modi Even As BJP Fails To Reach Majority

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the party workers from BJP headquarters in Delhi. Though BJP was unable to reach the majority mark on its own, PM Modi expressed confidence that NDA will form government at the Centre for a third time.

PM Modi expresses gratitude towards the people as BJP-led NDA secures majority. Here's what the prime minister said:

"People have placed their faith in NDA, for a third consecutive time! This is a historical feat in India’s history.

I bow to the Janata Janardan for this affection and assure them that we will continue the good work done in the last decade to keep fulfilling the aspirations of people.

I also salute all our Karyakartas for their hard work. Words will never do justice to their exceptional efforts."

After winning from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri Lok Sabha constituency, SP leader Dimple Yadav says, "I thank the voters of Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat…The development of the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat will be the priority of Samajwadi Party….The public of Uttar Pradesh has taught a lesson to BJP….This is the victory of people"

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi says, "We are going to have a meeting with our INDIA alliance partners tomorrow...we respect our alliance partners and we won't make statements to press without asking them."

On the question of chances of government formation by INDIA alliance, Rahul Gandhi says, "We will hold a meeting with our alliance partners tomorrow. These questions will be raised and answered there. We won't make any statements without asking our alliance partners."

"We fought this election not just against BJP but also the institutions, the governance structure of the country, the intelligence agencies CBI and EDI, judiciary because all these institutions were captured by Amit Shah and Narendra Modi ji."

Congress holds a press conference as Rahul Gandhi wins Rae Bareli and Wayanad seats. The party has bagged 15 seats and is leading on 83 seats, according to the Election Commission.

BJP has conceded defeat in Faizabad constituency, which includes Ayodhya, where the Ram Temple was a major poll plank for the saffron party.

Performing against all odds, Opposition INDIA bloc is leading in 233 seats, while the NDA is ahead in 293 seats.

Rahul Gandhi wins from Rae Bareli seat by a margin of 4 lakh votes.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi wins from Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 1.5 lakh votes. BJP leader Om Birla wins from Kota Lok Sabha constituency.

Ravi Kishan of BJP is leading with 15,152 votes in the Gorakhpur constituency against fellow Bhojpuri actress Kajal Nishad who is the INDIA bloc's joint candidate. Actor Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua is trailing with 17,199 votes in the Azamgarh constituency against Dharmendra Yadav of the Samajwadi Party. Meanwhile, actor Pawan Singh, who was expelled from BJP on the grounds of discipline, and is contesting independently, is trailing on 3rd spot.

Meanwhile in Bengal, the TMC hailed the trends that reflected that the party was racing ahead of its rivals in 30 of the 42 Lok Sabha seats. The TMC said the results are a reflection of people's faith in the "pro-people policies" of the Mamata Banerjee government and a decisive mandate against the BJP in the state.

Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi arrived at the residence of the party's general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was also seen leaving from the residence of Sonia Gandhi at 10, Janpath.

In the Hindi heartland state of Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is leading on 35 seats and its ally partner RLD leading on two seats while the Samajwadi party is leading on 34 seats, as per the initial trends by the Election Commission.

Ayodhya Election 2024: Samajwadi Party leader Awadhesh Prasad leads over BJP's Lallu Singh by a margin of 2676 votes.

Samajwadi Party candidate Dimple Yadav leads on Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 79,734 votes.

Hema Malini, who is leading from the Mathura seat, says, "I am happy that we are winning wonderfully. I would like the entire nation to win. That is my wish, I have come here with that prayer...I pray to God that PM Modi becomes the Prime Minister once again and the development of the country progresses."

The Election Commission has published trends on all 80 seats of Uttar Pradesh, where BJP stares at a major upset as Samajwadi Party and Congress combine lead on 42 of the 80 seats.

Jailed 'Waris Punjab De' Chief Amritpal Singh, an independent candidate from Punjab's Khadoor Sahib Lok Sabha seat leading from the seat with a margin of 45,424 votes.

Congress candidate from UP's Amethi Lok Sabha seat, KL Sharma leading from the seat with a margin of 19,177 votes. BJP candidate Smriti Irani trailing.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Union Minister and BJP candidate from Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat leading from the seat with a margin of 4,948 votes.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM and BJP candidate from Vidisha, Shivraj Singh Chouhan leading by a margin of 1,88,350 votes. Counting is underway.

According to latest media reports, BJP-led NDA leads on 289 seats. The INDIA bloc also appears to be giving a good fight with leads on 223 seats.

According to the Election Commission, BJP is leading on 200 seats, Congress leading on 80 seats, Samajwadi Party leading on 29 seats.

In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has raced past BJP with leads in 37 of 80 seats in Uttar Pradesh. The BJP is ahead on 27 seats, according to the Election Commission. The current position of Akhilesh Yadav's party raises the hopes of the INDIA bloc.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief and candidate from Varanasi, Ajay Rai says, "I had said yesterday too that the Exit Poll was concocted, to mislead people and create mental pressure. We are connected to the ground reality, I had said that INDIA Alliance will give results and the the outcome is before everyone. INDIA Alliance is going to form the government in the country...BJP ordered crackers and prepared sweets beforehand. All their crackers and sweets will remain untouched. It means that they consider themselves above the public...This is overconfidence...We will win and give a good government..."

Early trends show the National Democratic Alliance take lead on nearly a majority of seats. According to media reports, NDA is leading on over 270 seats. However, the official data by Election Commission shows the party leading on 126 seats in latest update at 9.15 AM.

Latest trends shared by the Election Commission show BJP leading in 75 seats, INC ahead in 25 seats.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leads on 42 seats in early trends, while the Indian National Congress is ahead on 17 seats. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has managed to take lead in 4 seats.

In Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency, NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar takes early lead over UPA's Shashi Tharoor.

In early trends, Rahul Gandhi leads in Wayanad, Amit Shah ahead in Gandhinagar and Bansuri Swaraj takes early lead in New Delhi constituency. Kangana Ranaut trails behind Vikramaditya Singh on Mandi seat. 

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by BJP, takes lead over the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) in early trends as counting of votes gets underway.

Counting of votes begins for Lok Sabha elections 2024. NDA, INDIA bloc await their fates in anticipation.

The EVMs are being taken out of the strong room and their seals are being checked as the counting of votes is set to begin shortly. The poll officials are matching the tally of votes polled in the machine with that mention in Form 17c. At 8 AM, the EVMs will be unsealed in the presence of the representatives of the various parties and the counting will begin.

A strong room, where the EVMs were kept sealed after the polling of votes, is being opened at one in Bengaluru district. Before the counting begins, the seals on the EVMs will be checked and the officials will confirm if the total votes polled match with those mentioned in Form 17C.

Punjab Congress candidate from Amritsar Gurjeet Singh Aujla says, "Counting for the 18th Lok Sabha is about to begin. A new, democratically elected government will be formed in the country. We hope the INDIA alliance forms the government. In Punjab, we will win 8-9 seats and overall, we will win more than 295 seats."

On the vote counting for Lok Sabha Election 2024, AAP leader Sandeep Pathak says, "I think the results will be good. We fought very well on the two seats in Gujarat. The response by the public has been good. In Kurukshetra, Delhi and Punjab, we worked extraordinarily...As an observer and seeing the general feedback, I can say that our confidence is very high in for the seats in Punjab, Delhi, Kurukshetra and Gujarat."

Madhya Pradesh Lok Sabha Election Result 2024: Poll officials begin to open the strong room in Indore district for the counting of votes, which will begin soon. The EVMs, which were stored in the strong room after the polling, will be taken out and unsealed in the presence of the representatives of various parties.   

The NDA could double its parliamentary seats in the prosperous south of the country. The BJP has long been seen as a party dependent on the big northern states such as Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, but analysts say it is now making inroads in the more industrialised south. The NDA could win 55 to 64 seats in the five southern states - Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana, according to ABP-Cvoter, nearly doubling the 32 seats it won in the 2019 election. News18 gave the NDA 51 to 64 seats in the region, while Axis My India gave it 59 to 67. 

Congress meanwhile has been staging protests alleging EVM tampering. Congress worker Jagdish Sharma says, "I have already said 6 days ago that the election has been looted, it (counting of vote) is just a formality because the people of the country believe in the Constitution system. All Congress party leaders will come but I will not wait for the Constitutional result... We have been losing for 10 years and still, we are fighting, fighting every day... My leaders are standing with the people, they are true to their work."

The excitement among BJP workers is already visible as the saffron makes celebratory preparations. At BJP headquarters in Delhi, poori and sweets are being prepared while the Jaipur office stands all decked up for the big day. The BJP, which is confidents that it will storm back to power at Centre, has already begun preparations to celebrate their imminent victory in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Visuals from Raipur in Chhattisgarh show 201 kg laddus prepared on order as BJP gets ready to celebrate. The counting of votes will begin at 8 AM today.

Ayodhya is ready to hold counting of votes for the Lok Sabha election, which were held on May 20 in the parliamentary constituency of Uttar Pradesh. Apprising of the preparation for counting process, Praveen Kumar IG Ayodhya says, "The necessary arrangements have been made as per the guidelines of the ECI. CCTV has been installed. Briefing has been done to the forces. Any untoward incident will be monitored and those who will try to create any mischief, action will be taken against that person."

Results of the six-week national election will be out today and the BJP-led NDA is expected to win easily, as indicated by exit polls. This would make PM Modi only the second Indian prime minister after Jawaharlal Nehru to win three straight terms. Nehru had been the prime minister of India for 16 years straight from 1947 to 1964. He was elected as the Member of Parliament in 1952, when India witnessed its first general elections.

The Exit Polls have predicted a landslide victory for the BJP-led NDA at the Centre, while the opposition INDIA Bloc is expected to be reduced under 200 seats. Several exit polls including Axis My India, Today's Chanakya, CVoter and Jan Ki Baat have predicted more than 350 seats for the NDA and somewhere around 150-160 seats for the opposition INDIA bloc.
