Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply responded to the apparent support for former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from a Pakistani leader, calling it a "very serious matter" that requires an investigation. In an interview with news agency IANS, PM Modi said he believes he should not comment on the issue owing to the position he was in but he could understand the concern.
Notably, former Pakistan minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain recently hailed Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal. He also shared a video of Wayanad MP, calling him a socialist leader like Jawaharlal Nehru.

When asked to comment about the praise of Opposition leaders in Pakistan, PM Modi said, “I don't know why those who have enmity with us, like a few people. Why voices are raised from there in support of a few people. The election is of India and India's democracy is very mature, has healthy traditions and the voters of India are also not the voters who are influenced by any outside activities”.
Chaudhry hailed Arvind Kejriwal’s interim bail by the Supreme Court calling it good news for India. “Modi G Lost another battle #Kejriwal released... good news for moderate India," he said in a post on X. Later, the former Pak Minister commented on a picture of Kejriwal, which the latter shared with his family during the sixth phase voting in Delhi. "May peace and harmony defeat forces of hate and extremism #MorePower #IndiaElection2024," he wrote.
Kejriwal, however, chose not to entertain Chaudhry, asking him to focus on the issue of Pakistan amid the latter’s terrible state.
Chaudhry Fawad Hussain’s praise for Rahul Gandhi and Arvind Kejriwal has fuelled a row in India amid Lok Sabha polls. BJP leaders have been ripping into Congress and the Opposition bloc over their ‘bonhomie’ with the leader of a rival nation.
