Bollywood and Television actor Anup Soni became the recent victim of the deepfake scam. A video went viral on social media, where Anup can be seen fraudulently promoting cricket betting. Reportedly, the clips used in the videos are from his television show Crime Patrol. Speaking about the same, the actor said that he was shocked to see the video. He further called it dangerous and urged people to be alert. He also planned to lodge a complaint at the cyber cell. 

In an interview with Times Entertainment, Anup said “I was shocked watching the video. It sounded so real to me. Even I thought for a second it is me. This is dangerous. It took me back to my school days when we used to have debates on whether science is a boon or a bane. Of course, we cannot blame technology because AI has a lot of benefits, too. However, there needs to be more awareness about such things. People need to be alerted about how things can be manipulated.”

“I plan to lodge a complaint with the Cyber Crime cell. For now, I have asked people to report the video, so that the platform is notified and takes necessary action.Something like this can tarnish my image. Today, you can dub anything and that is scary... not only for me, but for any actor because our voices are identifiable,” the actor added.

Several famous Bollywood stars including Ranveer Singh, Aamir Khan, Alia Bhatt, Katrina Kaif, and Rashmika Mandanna have become victims of deepfake. Following this, the actors lodged complaints to the Cyber Crime Cell. Later, the conspirators were caught by the cops in each case.

Meanwhile, Anup Soni has appeared in many movies and serials including Mirg, Karkash, Balika Vadhu, Raat Baaki Hai, Saas Bahu Achaar Pvt. Ltd., The Test Case, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Khakee: The Bihar Chapter, Dhindora, and Tandav are among a few of them.
