BLACKPINK Jennie is thrilled about the future, both for her group’s return and her upcoming solo album. After BLACKPINK’s 2022 album Born Pink and their 2023 tour, the members have focused on their individual projects. But Jennie can’t wait to reunite with the girls and see how they’ve all grown during their solo journeys.

In a recent interview with Billboard, Jennie expressed her excitement for BLACKPINK’s full group comeback, saying, “I’ve missed the girls. I’ve missed doing tours with them. I miss our silly moments.” She added that she’s looking forward to seeing how each member has developed and what they will bring to the table. “Everyone took their own journey, and I’m excited to share that with the girls. I want to say it’s going to be the most powerful versions of ourselves that anyone has seen.”

The hiatus has allowed each member to explore their individual paths, but Jennie emphasized that their bond remains strong. “Even though we know we can’t see each other so much, it doesn’t really feel any different than all the other years because we know we’re here for each other,” she said. “They’re literally a phone call away.”

Aside from her excitement for BLACKPINK’s reunion, Jennie also shared her experience working on her solo album. She intentionally chose to record much of it in Los Angeles to step out of her comfort zone. “I just really wanted to throw myself out there to experience it,” Jennie explained. She felt that being in Seoul, in an environment she was familiar with, wasn’t helping her grow. She wanted to push herself and learn more. “If this is your career and if this is your life, explore and learn,” she told herself.

Jennie’s upcoming album is something she’s deeply proud of, as it represents her growth as an artist. “My whole life, I think ever since the day I started in this music industry, which was 15, releasing a full solo album, has been on my list,” she revealed. The album features a song where Jennie feels like a “boss,” and she encourages fans to look out for it.

As Jennie works to define herself as an artist, she aims to be “whole” as Jennie Ruby-Jane, blending her rapping, singing and harmonizing talents. “The overall sound was me making sure I like every single song,” she said, ensuring that the album reflects her true self.
