BLACKPINK Jennie recently embraced a rare moment of freedom during her guest appearance on the variety show My Name is Gabriel. The singer and rapper, known for her busy schedule, had a chance to savour some downtime in Italy, where she was spotted enjoying artisanal gelato.

Jennie's Italian getaway gave her a much-needed break from the spotlight. The producer of the show, Kim Tae-ho, shared a memorable moment from her appearance, describing how Jennie delighted in the simple joy of enjoying gelato while shopping in Rome. "There’s a scene where Jennie steps out of the car, goes into a store, and eats gelato while shopping. She mentioned, ‘How long has it been since I’ve enjoyed this kind of freedom?’ It made me realize this was her first time experiencing such a life since her debut," he said.

In the clip shared ahead of the show’s release, Jennie is seen strolling the streets of Rome, eating her gelato with no fans crowding her, an unusual occurrence for the global star. This moment of calm gave her a chance to experience life away from the spotlight, something she hasn’t done in years.

Jennie is set to appear on My Name is Gabriel as Maria, the owner of an Italian farmhouse bed and breakfast. Her episodes will air on September 27 and October 4, 2024, where fans can see a different side of the BLACKPINK star as she experiences a "normal" life abroad.

Since leaving YG Entertainment, Jennie has been busy establishing her independent music career. Last December, she announced the creation of her own label, OA (Odd Atelier). She’s also released collaborations such as Slow Motion with Matt Champion and SPOT! with Zico. In October 2024, fans can look forward to her new single as she prepares for a comeback following her recent deal with Columbia Records.
