BLACKPINK's Jennie has officially signed with Columbia Records as a solo artist, following her departure from YG Entertainment. The news was confirmed on September 8, 2024, as Jennie embarks on her solo journey in collaboration with her own label, ODDATELIER. In addition to the deal, she is set to release a new solo single in October 2024.
Jennie's transition to Columbia Records doesn’t mark a complete break from YG Entertainment. While she’s pursuing her solo career under Columbia, the Kpop star will continue to participate in BLACKPINK group activities with YG with a highly-anticipated comeback expected in 2025 with fellow bandmates Rose, Lisa and Jisoo.

Jennie has made waves as a solo artist before. In 2023, she teamed up with The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp for the track One of the Girls, featured in HBO's The Idol. The song received over a billion streams on Spotify and achieved Platinum certification by the RIAA. She followed this up with You and Me, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global Excel US chart, marking her second solo hit. Jennie's first solo single, SOLO, released in 2018, also topped the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart, solidifying her as a powerhouse artist both in and out of BLACKPINK.

The other members of BLACKPINK are also making strides in their solo careers after their collective split from YG Entertainment in December 2024. Jisoo released her debut album Me in March 2023, featuring hits like Flower and All Eyes on Me (released under YG). She also launched her own label, Blissoo.
Lisa followed suit, dropping her single Rockstar in June 2024 and establishing her own label, LLOUD in February this year. Meanwhile, Rosé, who launched her solo career in 2021 with the release of her debut album R, is continuing to expand her solo endeavours under The Black Label, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment, which now manages her individual projects.
