BLACKPINK member Jennie made her acting debut in HBO's show 'The Idol' and received praise from her fans for her supporting role. 'The Idol' is set against the backdrop of the music industry and revolves around a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult who enters into a complicated relationship with a rising pop idol. It was nominated for the 2024 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming and has finally won in this category.
The dance in 'The Idol' caught the attention of the audience and started trending all over social media. Jennie's dance clip from the show also went viral and started a dance challenge on the internet as well. Fans are over the moon as Jennie's show achieved a big milestone.
The dance, which is tied to Jennie, was nominated for the award of the year and led “THE IDOL” to win the 2024 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Choreography for Scripted Programming.

'The Idol' stars The Weeknd and Lily-Rose Depp in the lead roles. The show later received a lot of backlash and criticism for its highly sexual and disturbing content. After receiving the criticism, HBO cancelled 'The Idol' for the second season. Announcing the cancellation of 'The Idol', HBO released an official statement. “'The Idol' has been one of HBO's most provocative original programs, and we are pleased with the enthusiastic response from our viewers. However, after extensive deliberation, we, along with the producers, have decided not to proceed with a second season. We extend our gratitude to the producers, cast, and crew for delivering such a fantastic show,” an HBO spokesperson stated.

Talking about the show and her debut, Jennie earlier said, "It’s overwhelming, but I’m grateful and thankful. All of those things at the same time. Especially as it’s the first step in my acting career, I was honoured to be able to come. It was an opportunity to just be myself and be brave. I didn’t really train for it, or prep anything...Sam wanted me to just be myself.”
On the work front, Jennie will be seen in the variety show 'My Name Is Gabrielle'. She will also release her solo album.
