BLACKPINK Jennie has officially addressed rumours involving an impersonator claiming to be her father. Her agency, ODD ATELIER, has warned fans about the issue and confirmed that they are preparing to take legal action against defamation and slander. Recently, speculation surfaced about Jennie’s alleged father, identified as PD Kim Hyung Jin, supposedly releasing a novel based on her life. This sparked a wave of rumours, claiming that he was preparing to publish a new book. However, Jennie’s agency has made it clear that the Kpop idol has no connection to the author or any impersonator claiming to be her father.

In an official statement released on September 6, ODD ATELIER dismissed the false claims, clarifying, “Recently, illegal publications and fake news containing false information impersonating the artist's father have been continuously circulating. This is clearly false information and has nothing to do with the artist.” They also warned fans against purchasing any unauthorized publications and encouraged caution to avoid any damages.

The agency further revealed its plans to take legal action, stating, “We are taking legal actions such as filing a criminal complaint on the grounds of defamation and obstruction of business by spreading false information through the law firm.” Additionally, they emphasized that online harassment, defamation, and malicious slander will also be met with legal consequences.

For context, the rumours originally emerged when a Korean media outlet published an article claiming PD Kim Hyung Jin, reportedly Jennie’s father, was set to release a novel based on her life. The article was quickly deleted, and the claims could not be confirmed. On the work front, Jennie is focusing on her solo career. She is set to release her first solo album soon. Beyond music, Jennie has confirmed her guest appearance in episodes 13 and 14 of the popular variety show My Name is Gabriel. Recently, she was also spotted filming in China, sparking excitement among her fans.
