Imtiaz Ali, the acclaimed filmmaker known for movies like Jab We Met and Rockstar, recently sparked a debate when he was asked to choose between Kareena Kapoor and Deepika Padukone as the better performers. While both actresses have delivered remarkable performances in their careers, Imtiaz found himself in a dilemma before ultimately picking Kareena Kapoor.

In a recent conversation with Connect FM Canada, Imtiaz Ali was posed with the challenging question of selecting the superior performer between Kareena Kapoor's Geet from Jab We Met and Deepika Padukone's character from Cocktail, a film for which Imtiaz had penned the script. Despite his close association with Cocktail, Imtiaz eventually chose Kareena Kapoor, citing his role as the director of Jab We Met as the deciding factor.

Imtiaz's decision underscores the impact of Kareena's portrayal of Geet, a character that has stood the test of time and continues to be celebrated as one of Bollywood's most iconic roles. Jab We Met, initially not a box office hit, later gained a cult following and is now considered a classic in Indian cinema.

Meanwhile, Imtiaz Ali is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated film Chamkila. The movie delves into the untold true story of Punjab's legendary folk artist Amar Singh Chamkila, often dubbed as the 'Elvis Presley of Punjab'. Starring Parineeti Chopra as Amarjot, Chamkila's wife and singing partner, Chamkila promises to transport audiences into the vibrant world of Punjab's folk music, capturing the essence of live music performances in rustic settings.

With music maestro AR Rahman composing the music and Irshad Kamil penning the lyrics, Chamkila boasts a stellar soundtrack. Both Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra have lent their voices to some of the songs, adding to the film's musical allure.
