BTS members Jungkook, Jimin, RM and V were the last of the septet to enlist in the military in December 2023. As of September 2024, the BTS members have completed half of their mandatory military service. The members are expected to fully return by June 2025. Jin, the eldest member, was discharged in June 2024, while Suga will complete his alternative service next year. Jhope, who enlisted in April 2023, will get discharged in October, marking a significant step closer to BTS’ highly anticipated reunion.
The BTS ARMY has been eagerly awaiting the group’s comeback, and the excitement grows as the members near the end of their military duties. Jhope’s discharge is particularly awaited, with fans counting down the days already. In the meantime, BTS has ensured their fans have plenty of content to enjoy, including solo albums and special projects, keeping ARMYs engaged during their enlistment period.

The decision for RM, V, Jimin and Jungkook to enlist around the same time was a calculated one, made so that BTS could return as a full unit as soon as possible. Speaking to their fans in a Weverse Livestream, the members expressed their commitment to reuniting and creating new music together once their service is complete.

“We know that together we will generate significant synergy. With this in mind, we will spend the coming year and a half in the military,” said the members before their enlistment. Jungkook shared how proud he was of his solo work prior to enlisting, adding that he felt relieved to have given his all before beginning his service.

BTS officially debuted in 2013 and quickly rose to global fame, with each member also achieving significant success as a solo artist. Fans are looking forward to 2025, when the entire group will resume activities, marking a new chapter for BTS after their military service concludes.
