After nearly seven months of maintaining a low profile, BTS’ SUGA has made a meaningful return to the spotlight with a heartfelt act of generosity. The rapper, who had been absent from public engagements since his DUI controversy last year, stepped forward alongside fellow BTS member J-Hope to contribute toward wildfire relief efforts in South Korea.
On March 27, BIGHIT MUSIC officially announced that SUGA and J-Hope each donated 100 million KRW (approximately 68,200 USD) to aid those affected by the country’s worst wildfires. While J-Hope directed his donation to the Hope Bridge Disaster Relief Association, SUGA chose the Korean Red Cross. The two musicians shared a statement expressing their hope that their contribution would bring some relief to the victims and the emergency workers battling the disaster.

This isn’t the first time SUGA has extended his support for such causes. Back in 2022, he made a similar donation for wildfire recovery efforts, showcasing his consistent dedication to helping communities in need. Meanwhile, J-Hope has actively contributed to various relief efforts, including support for flood victims in 2023 and assistance for families affected by the Jeju Air Flight 2216 crash.
SUGA’s recent act of kindness has drawn significant attention, not only because of his history of philanthropy but also due to its timing. Since his DUI incident, he had largely refrained from social media interactions and even skipped his annual birthday live session with fans—a tradition he had upheld for years. His public move has sparked discussions among fans, with many speculating whether this marks the beginning of his gradual return to public activities.
