CID 2: ACP Pradyuman, the protagonist of the iconic TV series CID, will no longer be a part of the ongoing track. In a surprising turn of events, Parth Samthaan will now replace Shivaji Satam, who played the iconic character so for more than 22 years.
Parth Samthaan will now take the lead in resolving new cases with Daya (Dayanand Shetty) and Abhijeet (Aditya Srivastava) at his side.
Parth Samthaan revealed that he grew up watching the show and even acted it out then, in an interview with Saas Bahu Aur Betiyaan. "Family ke saath jab discuss kiya toh unko pehle mazak laga. Jab maine unko seriously bataya, they were very proud. It is a big responsibility to fill in such humongous shoes of ACP Pradyuman since main unko replace kar raha hu as ACP Ayushmaan. Naya kirdar hai, nayi story hai. Naye thrill aur suspense ke saath hum iss kahani ko aage badhayenge," he said.
Parth also discussed his role as the show's investigator into ACP Pradyuman's murder. He stated that he was undecided about whether or not he should be doing it. Taking the show's legacy into consideration, he finally accepted the offer.
"In the show, ACP Pradyuman gets killed. Perhaps it's a murder. To solve the case, a new ACP has been appointed by this agency as ACP Ayushmann. I'm playing that role. This is a huge responsibility."

Shivaji Satam, meantime, recently said in an interview that he was not notified that his character had been removed from the show. He said that he had simply taken a short break and had not been told whether his track had come to an end.
Speaking to Bombay Times, he said, "I have no clue about this. I have taken a break for some time, and the makers know what lies ahead in the show. I have learnt to take everything in my stride, and if my track is over, I am okay with it. However, I have not been told whether my track is over or not! As of now, I am not shooting for the show."
