CID Season 2: The iconic crime investigation show CID is making a grand comeback to television, bringing back fan-favourite characters like ACP Pradyuman, Sr. Inspector Abhijeet and Inspector Daya. The new season is set to premiere on December 21 on Sony TV and promises to rekindle the excitement that made the show a household name.

To heighten anticipation, the makers recently released a teaser featuring Dayanand Shetty, known for his portrayal of Inspector Daya. The teaser showcases him in a dramatic sequence, bending a gun with his bare hands after a bomb blast. In the clip, he says, “Jabse tum nishana lagana seekh rahe the na, tabse yeh Daya banduke tod raha hai (Daya has been breaking guns since you learned to aim)." Of course, his iconic door-breaking scene also makes an appearance, evoking nostalgia among fans.

The teaser was shared on Instagram with the caption, “Naye season me Daya sirf darwaze nahi todega, bandooke bhi tutengi! #CID waapis aa raha hai 21st December se, Sat-Sun raat 10 baje, sirf #SonyEntertainmentTelevision par."

Many fans are eagerly awaiting promos of other beloved characters, especially Aditya Srivastava as Sr. Inspector Abhijeet. A comment read, “Abhijeet sir ke bhi promo out krdo please (Please release Abhijeet’s promo as well)." The show, which originally aired on Sony TV, ran for an impressive 20 years before going off the air in 2018, cementing its place as one of India’s longest-running television series. Alongside Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava, Shivaji Satam will reprise his role as ACP Pradyuman.

The previous season of CID also included memorable performances by late actor Dinesh Phadnis as Inspector Fredricks, Narendra Gupta as Dr. Salunkhe, Ansha Sayed as Inspector Purvi, Vivek Mashru as Sub-Inspector Vivek and Shraddha Musale as Dr. Tarika, among others. Dayanand Shetty, meanwhile, was recently seen in Singham Again, further showcasing his flair for action-packed roles. CID returns on December 21, airing every Saturday and Sunday at 10 PM on Sony TV. The TV series is also expected to be available for streaming on SonyLIV.
