New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The gruesome incident in which a 26-year-old veterinarian in Hyderabad was allegedly raped and brutally murdered has once again shaken the country. People have started raging against the unholy act on social media demanding strictest punishment to the accused.
Echoing with the people, Bollywood celebrities also took to their social media accounts to berate the monstrous incident. While Farhan Akhtar pointed out to the fact that how the incident is a dark reminder of how unsafe we have allowed our society to become, Akshay Kumar feels we seem to be losing it as a society.
Akshay Kumar condemning the act, he tweeted, “Whether it is with the woman in Hyderabad, other woman in Tamil Nadu or the law student gang-raped in Ranchi, we seem to be losing it as a society. It has been 7 yrs to the gut-wrenching case & our moral fabric continues to be in pieces. We need stricter laws. This needs to STOP!
Farhan Akhtar, tweeted, “What those men did to her is another dark reminder of how unsafe we’ve allowed our society to become by not delivering swift and telling justice in these cases..!Heart goes out to her family in their hours of unimaginable grief”.
In another tweet, he said, “And what is going to be done about the minor allegedly involved if found guilty..? For what it’s worth, I feel that if you’re old enough to knowingly commit a crime this brutal, you’re old enough to face real consequences”.
Bollywood actress Richa Chadha said that the woman’s only crime was that she trusted the four men who disguised her and demanded harshest punishments. Taking to Twitter she tweeted, “Her only crime was she trusted these men who promised to fix her scooty. Perpetrators are given the harshest punishment, they don’t belong in society. They won her trust and then brutalised her. Treated her like a thing, not a human being”.
Abhishek Bachchan saddened by the incident asked ‘When will this stop’ and asserted that something must be done and ‘fast’. Taking to Twitter he wrote, “When will this stop??? Sickened to read about her. Prayers with her family and near & dear ones. We can’t and we mustn’t go on like this. Something has to be done. And fast!!!”.
While Bollywood actress Esha Gupta thinks that it is a bad time to be alive and witness such a horrific act of brutality towards women, Pooja Hegde was heartbroken by listening about the unholy incident.
Esha Gupta on her Twitter handle wrote, “We talk about women empowerment, but don’t teach men how to act how to behave. Let’s start empowering men to empower women.. sad times to be alive and witness such horrific act of brutality towards women”.
Pooja Hegde tweeted, “Heartbroken about the news of the rape in Hyderabad....this is devastating news. What needs to change in India to permanently put an end to this? When does this end?”.
