Dostana 2 Update: The abrupt shelving of the movie Dostana 2 grabbed attention for several reasons. One of them was creative differences, which reportedly led to a fallout between Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar. The actor, who was originally set to star opposite Janhvi Kapoor, is expected to be replaced by Vikrant Massey, according to the latest buzz. The development also reveals that Lakshya continues to be part of Dostana 2’s cast.
Vikrant Massey To Replace Kartik Aaryan In Dostana 2?
In 2019, Karan Johar made the announcement of the sequel to the movie Dostana, which starred Priyanka Chopra, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. The Dostana 2's cast was introduced including Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor and newcomer Lakshya, building expectations among audiences. Later, the film was shelved indefinitely after Kartik’s exit from the project due to a rumoured fallout with the producers, Dharma Productions. Now, the movie is back in the works. As per a source quoted by Mid-day claimed, “As initial talk about reviving the rom-com began in the production house, retaining Lakshya was a no-brainer."
As Dostana is one of the most popular films, with story of a bromance, makers are looking for fresh jodi for that Vikrant Massey is a strong contender. "He is the top choice if the makers take Dostana 2 forward. The team wants actors with chemistry and gravitas. Vikrant fits that brief," source added.
In 2024, Kartik talked about Dostana 2 and his fall out. In a interview with Lallantop, he shared, “Dekhiye, woh boht purani baat ho gayi. Kai bar bahut miscommunication hota hai aur kai bar bahot cheezein out of proportion bhi chali jati hai aur sepcifically jab voh likha jata hai to voh sound kuch aur karta hai."

Revealing why he prefers to remain silent on such matters, he added, “Main tab bhi silent tha and ab bhi silent hoon un baaton pe. After the fallout from Dharma movies, Kartik Aaryan is finally set to reunite with Karan Johar in movies including Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Naagzilla. The bother are back by Karan's production house.
