Dostana 2, a highly anticipated film, which was initially shelved due to a fallout between Karan Johar and Kartik Aaryan, is making a comeback. According to recent reports, the film will feature Vikrant Massey and Sreeleela in the lead roles, replacing Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor.
According to a report by News 18, a close production source has revealed that the story of Dostana 2 will remain the same, but the cast and director have been changed. Sreeleela, known for her impressive dance number in Pushpa 2: The Rule, is being considered for the female lead role. The makers are reportedly keen on having her in the film, given her rising popularity and positive word-of-mouth.

The report also mentioned that the makers of Dostana 2 decided to recast the film, hoping to feature a set of actors who haven't shared screen space in the past. It will indeed be fun to watch Sreeleela's chemistry with Vikrant Massey and Lakshya, who will continue to be a part of the film. The film will also have a new director, with Advait Chandan reportedly coming on board to direct the film. Previously, Collin D'cunha was supposed to direct, but it seems that there has been a change in plans.

Initially when the film was announced to be shot, reports suggested that Janhvi Kapoor and Lakshya were going to play the role of siblings who fall for the same man played by Kartik Aaryan. Later, it was revealed that this is not the plot for Dostana 2. In an interview with News 18, Juhi Babbar, who was considered for the movie, stated, “I had been getting many calls even after Aiyaary didn’t work at the box office, especially for motherly roles. Then I got an offer from Dharma Productions for Dostana 2.”

On the other hand, Lakshya, who was initially set to make his Bollywood debut with Dostana 2, had expressed his disappointment when the film was shelved. He later debuted with the film ‘Kill’, sharing screen space with Raghav Juyal. He had revealed that the setback had affected his morale and confidence. However, with the film being revived, Lakshya will hopefully get to share the screen with Vikrant Massey and Sreeleela.
