Farhan Akhtar is one of the most famous actors, musicians and filmmakers in the Bollywood industry. He is the son of renowned lyricist Javed Akhtar. Recently, Javed Akhtar and Salman Khan’s father Salim Khan’s series started streaming on Prime Video. In the same show, Farhan can be seen recalling the time when his father divorced his mother Honey Irani. On the other hand, his sister and filmmaker Zoya Akhtar shared that Shabana Azmi has played a major role in transforming the tough situation into normal. 

Farhan said, “There was a phase when I was angry with him. I felt betrayed by him. There were all those normal emotions that I go through as a child growing up.” Adding to his statement, Zoya further mentioned, “After the split happened, we lived with our mother (Honey Irani). So, we ended up spending more time with our mother. But, Yaa…It took time to go back to normal with my dad and I think Shabana has played a big part in creating that normalcy.” 

In the same series, Zaved Akhtar said “Honey is one person in the world towards whom I feel guilty. And she’s the only person. About 60 to 70 person responsibility lies on my shoulder for the failure of that marriage. If I had as much understanding as I have today, perhaps, things would not have gone wrong. It’s very difficult to accept. But that’s how it is.” 

Honey Irani was a popular actress and screenwriter who worked in movies like Seeta Aur Geeta, Pyaar Ki Pyaas, Chirag Kahan Roshni Kahan, Masoom, Koi... Mil Gaya, Krrish 3, Kya Kehna, Pehla Pehla Pyar, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai and Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai to name a few. Javed Akhtar and Honey Irani got married in 1972 and parted ways in 1985. They are the parents of Farhan and Zoya Akhtar. Later, Javed Akhtar married Shabana Azmi in 1984.
