'Gadar 2' hit the theatres on August 11, 2023 and it has been receiving ‘blockbuster’ reviews from fans and critics alike. Now, in a surprising turn of events, director Anil Sharma gave a major hint about the film, mentioning, “To be continued…” at the end of the sequel.
In the movie, Sunny Deol takes on the role of Tara Singh once again, although he was first hesitant to do so since he thought films like ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’ could only be produced once in human history. While Ameesha Patel reprises her role of Sakina, Utkarsh Sharma returns as young ‘Jeete’. Manish Wadhwa is a new addition to the film. He plays the role of Pakistan General Hamid Iqbal.
Directed by Anil Sharma, 'Gadar 2: The Katha Continues' is touted as one of the highly anticipated films of 2023. According to reports, the conflict in 'Gadar 2' takes place during the 1971 India-Pakistan War. Anil Sharma Productions and Zee Studios collaborated to produce the film. 'Gadar 2' released alongside Akshay Kumar’s ‘OMG 2’, which is also doing good at the BO.
In 2001, when 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha', starring Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Amrish Puri in the lead roles, hit the theatres, it set a benchmark in the Indian film industry. The film was released at a time when patriotism was at its pinnacle following the Kargil War.
Sunny Deol's powerful portrayal of Tara Singh, along with his iconic dialogue "Hindustan Zindabad Tha, Zindabad Hai, Zindabad Rahega" (Long Live India), became legendary and left a lasting impact on Indian cinema. The film's success also added to the popularity of Sunny Deol as an action hero and solidified his position in the industry.
