Gangs of Wasseypur features in Guardian's list of 100 best films of 21st century

New Delhi | Jagran Entertainment Desk: The Guardian's list of 100 best films of 21st century has been released and it features two-part action drama 'Gangs of Wasseypur' directed by Anurag Kashyap. The movie was released in 2012 and made it to 59th spot in the above list, which include Hollywood films like the incredibles, the wolf of the wallstreet, 12 years of slave and Ted among others.

Anurag Kashyap took to Instagram to announce that the news. In a post, he wrote, "Proud to be here, but this wouldn’t be my list. So many films which are my favourites can’t be below my film.. and “the Dark Knight” deserves to be way up. The number 1 film in the list I totally agree with. That’s my absolute favourite of the 21st century."

"P.S. this is also is that film of mine that totally destroyed my filmmaking life by the expectations it sets from me as a filmmaker and has been continuously so, and I have forever been trying to break away from it. Hopefully someday that will happen," it added.

The 2012 action drama was released in two parts within a span of three months. It is the story of three gangster families fighting for supremacy over one another. It features stars such as Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Piyush Mishra, Richa Chadha and Huma Qureshi in lead roles.

Gangs of Wasseypur was widely praised by both critics and masses. It was shot in Dhanbad, Jharkhand.
