Govinda, the veteran Bollywood actor, was hospitalised this morning following an accidental misfire of his licensed revolver. The 60-year-old star sustained a bullet wound below his knee and was rushed to Criticare Hospital, near his Juhu home in Mumbai. He underwent surgery to remove the bullet and is currently in stable condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
The actor’s manager, Shashi Sinha, shared details about the incident, explaining that it happened while Govinda was preparing to travel to Kolkata for an event. “We had a 6 am flight, and I had already reached the airport. Govinda ji was about to leave his house when this unfortunate accident took place. Thankfully, it’s just a leg injury, and nothing serious," said Sinha according to NDTV.
Reports state that Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, was in Kolkata when the incident occurred. She flew back to Mumbai as soon as she heard about her husband’s condition. Their daughter, Tina Ahuja, and other family members also rushed to the hospital upon learning the news.
The incident took place when Govinda was keeping his revolver inside a cupboard, and it slipped from his hand. The firearm discharged, and the bullet hit his leg. Following the mishap, Govinda immediately contacted his manager and wife. Police arrived at his residence shortly after and escorted him to the hospital. His revolver has been seized for investigation.

Govinda expressed gratitude to his fans through an audio message, saying, “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been removed. I thank the doctors and all of you for your prayers.”
Family members, including his brother Kirti Kumar and nephew Vinay Anand, visited the hospital to check on Govinda. Kirti Kumar mentioned that Govinda is in good spirits and eager to go home soon, but he would have to remain under observation for a few days. Vinay Anand added that Govinda believes it was God’s grace that saved him, saying, “He could have been hit anywhere else, but Bajrang Bali protected him.”
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde personally reached out to the actor, offering support on behalf of the state government. "I wish him a speedy recovery and have assured him that all necessary assistance will be provided," the Chief Minister stated. Although earlier reports mentioned that Govinda hadn’t filed a police complaint, authorities have taken over the investigation and are looking into the matter. Security at the hospital has also been tightened following the incident.
