Imtiaz Ali, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his romantic sagas, has recently shared updates on his much-anticipated project, the ‘epic love saga’ of Radha and Krishna. In 2018, Ali announced this dream project, expressing his deep fascination with the eternal love story of Radha and Krishna, which he believes is unparalleled in Indian folklore due to its intensely personal yet epic scale.

However, despite the initial announcement, the film did not materialize as planned. Now, in a conversation with News18, Ali has revealed that he still harbours a strong desire to make the Radha-Krishna film. He explained that to do justice to such a profound story, he needs to imbibe some of the characteristics of Radha and Krishna within himself first. He emphasized the need for the right mindset and spiritual alignment before embarking on such a project.

Ali candidly admitted that he is waiting for the right time to tell this story to the Indian audience, urging fans to pray for its realization. He acknowledged that making a film of this magnitude requires a certain spiritual and creative readiness, which he is working towards.

In the meantime, Imtiaz Ali is basking in the success of his recent film, Amar Singh Chamkila, starring Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra. The film, which took some creative risks including the use of animation and Punjabi songs in a Hindi film, has been well-received by audiences. Ali expressed his delight at the positive response, highlighting the challenges they faced during its making and how they creatively overcame them.

Ali also praised the Indian audience for their depth and understanding, noting that they can grasp complex narratives, citing examples like the Mahabharata and the Ramayana. He expressed his belief in the audience's sophistication and their capacity to appreciate nuanced storytelling.
