Imtiaz Ali Reveals His Fear Of Being Attacked By Amar Singh Chamkila’s First Wife; Says ‘She Was Sitting Right Next To Me’

Imtiaz Ali is currently enjoying the success of his latest film Amar Singh Chamkila. The movie received a great response from the audience, film critics, and Bollywood celebrities alike. The film is a biopic of Punjab’s famous singer Amar Singh Chamkila, who was assassinated by some unknown men for his vulgar lyrics. The Diljit Dosanjh starrer delves into the life of the late singer. While everyone has been talking about the success of the film, director Imtiaz Ali has made some shocking revelations about his experience during the film’s screening. In a recent interview, the filmmaker shared his fear that the real-life people known to the singer might have been offended. Imtiaz also had a fear that Chamkila’s real first wife would attack him. 

In an interview with Zoom, Imtiaz Ali said “Chamkila’s family was at the screening. His first wife Gurmail Kaur was there. Amarjot and Chamkila’s son Jaiman Chamkila was there. Chamkila’s daughters were also there. When I was watching the film, his first wife was sitting right next to me and I was thinking that there are some sensitive scenes in the film, should I just pull back or go back before she attacks me or something like that? But when the screening got over, she hugged me and everybody was so happy with the way that Chamkila was portrayed because we were hoping that they like it."
