Kalki 2898 AD continues to rule the box office since its release on 27th June. The movie has been considered the biggest movie of all time. Recently, the director of the film Nag Ashwin opened up casting Amitabh Bachchan. He said that Big B was the only choice for the role of Ashwatthama as he was the great warrior in Mahabharata. The director shared that Amitabh’s fight sequences with Prabhas was a dream to pull off. Nag also talked about Deepika Padukone’s character as well and asserted that her role was one of the crucial parts of the story.
In an interview with Indian Express, Nag said “The four main actors (Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Prabhas and Deepika Padukone) we have on board are on everyone’s wishlist. Amitabh Bachchan was my only choice for the role of Ashwatthama, who in the Mahabharata is considered to be a great warrior.”
He continued, “Bachchan Sir is one of the biggest stars of our country. His character is supposed to be 8-foot tall and very powerful due to the divine blessings he has received. His fight scenes with Prabhas (who plays a bounty hunter), who is considered to be one of the biggest action heroes of contemporary cinema, was a dream for us to pull off.”
Speaking about Deepika Padukone’s character, Nag shared “She is the most important part of the story. We had a lot of discussions on it when we were writing as well. I think the simplest answer that we arrived at was whose character do you remove and the story does not exist? And that became Deepika’s character. Because if you remove her character, there is no story. There is no Kalki.”
The science fiction action movie starred Prabhas as Bhairava, Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama, Kamal Haasan as Supreme Yaskin, Deepika Padukone as Sumathi, Disha Patani as Roxie and Saswata Chatterjee as Commander Manas.
