Kannada film actress Harshika Poonacha recently faced a harrowing experience in Bengaluru, where she and her family were allegedly attacked by a mob for speaking in Kannada. The incident, which occurred on Mosque Road in Frazer town's Pulikeshi Nagar, has sparked a debate about safety in the city.
According to Poonacha, the attack took place after she and her family had dinner at a restaurant. As they were leaving, a group of men surrounded their vehicle and began verbally abusing them in a mix of Hindi, Urdu, and broken Kannada. The situation escalated when one of the men tried to snatch her husband's gold chain.

In a series of posts on social media, Poonacha described the traumatic incident and shared visuals from the night. She questioned the law-and-order situation in Bengaluru and expressed concern about the safety of Kannada speakers in their own city.
Poonacha's husband, who was driving the car, attempted to move the vehicle despite the men's objections. This led to a confrontation, during which the men allegedly grabbed his gold chain. Fortunately, he managed to retain possession of it.
The attackers reportedly told Poonacha and her family to "keep your Kannada style to yourself," highlighting the language-based discrimination they faced. Poonacha also attempted to call the police, but the men disappeared before help could arrive.

The incident has raised concerns about the safety of residents in Bengaluru, especially those who speak Kannada. Poonacha has called for strict police action against the attackers and has asked Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to address the issue.
