The Kannada film industry has been booming for the past year and has managed to deliver some blockbuster trendsetters. The year 2023 has been abysmal for the Kannada film fraternity with barely any direct OTT releases, but a dozen theatrical releases soon to be available for the viewers on various OTT platforms.
From Prime Video to Jio Cinema, some of the coming Kannada releases in August for the viewers to binge-watch.
Aachar & Co
One of the latest releases from PRK Studios and directed by debutante Sindhu Sreenivasa Murthy, the film revolves around a Bengaluru family set in the 1960s and revolves around the loss of the family patriarch and the aftermaths of the situation. The film hit theaters on July 28 and will be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
Hostel Hudugaru Bekagiddare
Marking the debut of Nithin Krishnamurthy, the film was released on July 21 and features a bunch of newcomers with Rakshit Shetty as the presenter of the film. A healthy comedy tale, the film will be streamed on Zee5.

Namo Bhoothathma 2
This horror-comedy is directed by dancer-choreographer Murali Master and has Komal Kumar in the lead role. The two came back together after a decade, with the film to release in the theaters shortly, however, the makers have already partnered up with the streaming platform SUN NXT for its digital release.
Nam Nani Maduve Prasanga
Directed and written by Hemanth Hegde, this comedy entertainer touches on some serious issues of men in the segment of farming and not being able to find suitable brides. The film will be released on Jio Cinema after its theatrical release.
Shivaji Surathkal: The Mysterious Case Of Maayavi
The second installment of the Kannada hit detective saga has Ramesh Aravind in the lead role, the film's installment is returning after six long years and will be released online on Zee5.
Pentagon
An anthology film with a collection of five short films with different filmmakers on board, 'Pentagon' will revolve around the aspects of death, life, and everything in between. The film will feature Kishore, P Ravishankar, Tanisha Kuppanda, Prakash Belawadi, and Pruthvi Ambaar in lead roles.
